Lambda Chi Alpha was founded here at Boston University 101 years ago by a law student named Warren A. Cole. He wanted to start a fraternity in order to prepare and encourage collegiate men of good character, high ethics, and noble ideals to contribute positively to the world in which they live. Lambda Chi Alpha strives to offer the best fraternal experience, focusing on personal character development through leadership, scholarship, community service, and positive social experiences. We continue the tradition of excellence today as the tightest and most active group of guys on campus. We are a diverse brotherhood that can honestly call each other our best friends and have a lot of fun while maintaining a high level of involvement and commitment to academics.
Our Core Values:
Loyalty- Unswerving allegiance to the organization and its laws, ideals and defining principles prevents us from misplacing out loyalties.
Duty- Delineates the sum total of all laws, rules, and customs that make up our organizational, civic, and moral obligations.
Respect-Denotes the regard and recognition of the absolute dignity that every human possesses, and indicates compassion and sensitivity to the feelings and needs of others.
Service and Stewardship-Signifies the proper perspective that the welfare of the Fraternity and our broader communities come before the individual’s; Stewardship is the holding of something of value in trust for others;
Honor- Circumscribes the complex of all values that comprise the public code of the individual while providing for action and adherence to a public moral code.
Integrity-Encompasses the sum total of a person’s private moral code—breaching any of these would damage this person’s integrity;
Personal Courage- Depicts the premier virtue that enables us to take responsibility and to persevere despite fear, danger, or adversity.

Our approach to member and leader development is profoundly influenced by the U.S. Army's leader development shorthand of BE-KNOW-DO. The BE component is who you are as a person, as a leader, and as a brother, in short, your character. The KNOW component represents your skills, technical and interpersonal, that describe your Competence as a leader. The DO component is action, the real test of a leader's effectiveness. Decisions, and the actions that follow, are the result of the combination of character and competence.
